Lisa's Picture of 2076 (1976)

Young Lisa Gilvar of Happy Hollow School in Wayland, Massachusetts submitted this picture for the Tricentennial Report, published in 1977. Domed habitats in the sky seem pretty cool to me. I might go with a different color scheme for the poles, but hey, I'm no designer of the future.

That's awesome! I'm totally gonna have a house like that in the future! Or maybe one made out of cardboard like this one: http://www.housesofthefuture.com.au/hof_houses04.html

Or like one of these: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/in_pictures/4649371.stm

Aw.. Reminds me of this one picture I did back in the 3rd grade. All pencil drawing of stick figures with jet packs, surf boards with little rocket engines on the back of them, flying cars. If ONLY I drew it a hundred years ago..

I do have to say, though, I think it's too soon to call this one unrealistic. We still have about 70 more years to go until we see if she's right or not.

Lisa sure is an idiot. I'm glad this site is here to remind me that I am smarter than people from the past, especially grade school children from the seventies.

How strange. I just googled my maiden name and this popped up. Yes, I am Lisa Gilvar. I remember being surprised that my drawing was chosen for this publication because it did not seem very original. I am almost 43 years old now and a bit worried that maybe this isn't so off base after all.

Was the Happy Hollow School for the developmentally disabled?

j-Bonz and Anonymous, you're both off base. This kind of forum and comment meanness on the Internet has gotten very old. I'm tired of sarcastic jerks coming on and saying hurtful things toward people! She did this when she was a kid, and how are we supposed to know what to draw when it comes to a century from now?
