Science on the March (1952)
Sunday, February 28, 2010 at 10:41AM This illustration by Alexander Leydenfrost appeared in the fiftieth anniversary issue of Popular Mechanics (January, 1952). It depicts "science on the march" and even includes a chart explaining the various elements of the image.

I would love to print this as a poster, is there any chance to get this in high res?
"16. Meteorological balloons (flying saucers)" is giving it all away!
"37. Laboratory rabbits" - nice. Surprised there's not a "45. Negro porter serving drinks" or "46. Wife using leisure time to stay trim for her husband".
Though it can not fly, I would personally not object driving in 36.
It's interesting how the only field of science in which they are predicting advancement is that of stellar discoveries (and the shape of cars a bit).
The 2002 car is actually pretty accurate.
