Design Paleo-Future's Logo
Thursday, February 4, 2010 at 9:17AM To find a logo for Paleo-Future, I've posted a job to the crowdsourcing website CrowdSpring.
The idea behind CrowdSpring is that people like myself who may not have a lot of money to hire a designer can post their job, say what they're willing to pay, and choose a winner between the entries. The deadline for my logo is February 18, 2010 at 12:18 AM, GMT but if you submit before that I'm able to provide feedback, which gives the designer a chance to revise their work.
I'm well aware of the critiques of crowdsourcing websites like this, as my designer friends have given me an earful about how websites like this devalue their work. I'm inclined to disagree. I don't have much money and I'm not about to ask my friends who are designers to work for free, which I feel would actually devalue their work. Crowdsourcing lets someone like me put a design job out into the community and if a designer feels like its worth their time because of the money or because they enjoy my blog, everyone wins.
You can read the creative brief and submit logos here. Thanks to any and all designers who take up the challenge!

It's OK to ask designers, I guess your friends are talking about people who are not designers but happen to know a few Photoshop tricks.
In what dimensions do you need the logo/banner and do you need multiple sizes? Do you require web safe colors?
The submission requirements for CrowdSpring ask for vector files to be included, so size isn't an issue. As for colors, go wild! Again, with vector art I can tweak the shade of color to make it "web safe" if I find that necessary in the future. Thanks for considering it!
How dare you!? By crowdsourcing your logo, you're denying graphic artists the ability to overcharge you for a design you may not like. What an asshole you are!! It's people like you who are going to keep me living with my parents for years to come!! Now, if you don't mind, I have more free music to download...
What about an image of ASIMO's head next to water, where the reflection shows an 1930s robot?
I like the concept, but I'd probably run into some trademark issues using a Honda product.
I'm not sure a logo should take up 60% of the screen
